TCGDeckBase is a fully functional Pokémon TCG deck building tool, designed and developed to solve a clear gap in the market. The project combines product thinking, interface design, and modern web development, supported by AI-assisted workflows to accelerate ideation, problem solving, and implementation.

The concept was driven by a core frustration within the Pokémon TCG space. While there are tools available for viewing deck lists or analysing tournament results, there is no truly streamlined, user-focused platform that allows players to build, manage, and test decks in a fluid and intuitive way. Existing tools often feel fragmented, overly complex, or lack meaningful deck tracking and usability. TCGDeckBase was created to address this directly.

From a design perspective, the application was built with a mobile-first approach, mirroring the feel of a native app. The interface prioritises clarity, speed, and accessibility, allowing users to quickly search cards, construct decks, and review compositions without friction. Visual hierarchy, spacing, and interaction patterns were carefully considered to ensure the experience remains clean and focused, even when handling large volumes of data.

On the development side, the app was built using a modern React-based framework, with a structured component system and scalable architecture. Features include real-time deck editing, automatic saving, dynamic filtering, and a responsive layout that adapts seamlessly across devices. External data integrations were explored to provide accurate card information, while fallback systems were implemented to maintain reliability.

AI played a key role throughout the project. It was used to assist with code generation, problem solving, UI refinement, and feature planning. Rather than replacing the design and development process, AI acted as a collaborative tool, enabling faster iteration and more efficient decision making while maintaining full creative control.

The result is a polished, purpose-built tool that demonstrates both technical capability and product thinking. TCGDeckBase not only solves a genuine user problem but also showcases the ability to take an idea from concept through to a fully realised digital product.
